Winter Gloves issue ‘Let Me Drive’ video and embark on Exclaim! Tour

Début de l'événement:

11 avril 2009 - 00:00

Capitalizing on the momentum created by the release of their debut album, about a girl, Montreal’s Winter Gloves will be hitting the road across Canada with Thunderheist as part of Exclaim! Magazine’s 17th Anniversary Tour this April (dates below). The tour will be a great lead-up to the US dates the band plans to stay on the road with in May (full dates coming soon).

The band has also completed their first video for stand-out track “Let Me Drive”, recently premiered on Pitchfork and buzzcatcher clip of the week on Musique Plus. The video was brought to life by acclaimed director Benjamin Weinstein, and features a band performance story told in a series of flip books. It’s not really animation done in post, and it’s not fancy sophisticated special effects super-imposed onto pages of paper, the flip books are actually real, using individual photos of the band in various poses and situations that were taken in a separate shoot. As people continue to try to figure out how the video was created, the video link has received an incredible 10,000 hits in its first five days of posting!

Winter Gloves is Charles F (lead singer/songwriter/Wurlitzer), Pat Sayers (drums), Vincent Chalifour (synths) and Jean-Michel Pigeon (guitar/glockenspiel). With only a handful of live shows behind them at the beginning of 2008, Winter Gloves were already receiving invitations to join bands like Tokyo Police Club on a series of sold-out tour dates. Such well-attended shows helped spread what was becoming the wildfire of the earlier, self-released “Let Me Drive” EP. After the Canadian release of their full-length in the Fall of 2008, the band continued on the same foot as things had started with dates alongside Tokyo Police Club and a slot at Toronto’s Virgin Festival before hitting the road across Canada with Vancouver’s You Say Party! We Say Die! and Quebec’s Beast. Reactions to the album and these shows immediately secured showcase opportunities at International conferences, invitations for further touring and secured spots on “Best of 2008” yearend lists including “Best New Artist” from iTunes Canada.
