Vancouver - The Stanley Park Singing Exhibition announces more guests

The New Pornographers are proud to announce that Vancouver favorite, Black Mountain will be included in the first ever Stanley Park Singing Exhibition.

The Stanley Park Singing Exhibition is a two-day musical event curated by The New Pornographers. It will take place in Vancouver on August 31st and September 1st .

The outdoor festival will be held at the Malkin Bowl, a beautiful natural tree lined concert amphitheatre in the middle of Stanley Park. While being an outdoor venue, the Malkin Bowl is only moderately sized giving fans a great opportunity to see some major artists in an intimate outdoor setting. The idea behind the event is to give back to the community that fostered their growth while at the same time highlighting some of the great artists they have come across in their travels around the world.

Lovingly hand picked by the New Pornographers, the acts are described as “a small sampling of what we consider some of the best groups from not only Vancouver, but the rest of the world.”

The line up for the festival includes some from the New Pornographer family such as Neko Case, and Destroyer, but also includes other groups they have respected and befriended throughout their long career such as Andrew Bird (who was packaged with the Pornographers on their first ever tour), Deerhoof, Stevie Jackson of Belle and Sebastian, and now Black Mountain.

The Full Line up is:

August 31st

UNYA's mandate is to help Native youth in the urban setting. UNYA was formed to address Aboriginal youth issues when it became apparent that a growing number of young people were continuing to leave reserves for the city. A large number of First Nations youth end up on the streets with few job skills, minimal training or education, and little or no knowledge of where to go for help. UNYA’s goal is to be a safe place for Native youth to come and find out about their programs and other services in the community.
