Public Transit Recordings is proud to present the official PTR Showcase at Pop Montreal 2007. PTR will bring the more forward-thinking soulful end of music to the festival, with sounds spanning afro jazz, heavy funk, bodyrocking hip hop, broken dancefloor techno, and dubbed-out conscious electronic soul.
Andy Williams kicks off the night with one of his legendary jazz-heavy DJ sets, which will include selections from his excellent Variations in Time: A Jazz Perspective compilation forthcoming on PTR in late Fall 2007. Think Twice will step outside the studio booth for some air and to throw down a killer hip hop DJ set. Possible hints from his upcoming Rock To This Beat album on PTR (early 2008) will get dropped! Nomadic Massive steps up to the stage with a special live performance of conscious boom bap internationalism featuring songs from their album Nomad’s Land, reissued by PTR and available across Canada on Nov 7. Taking it to soulfully conscious esoteric heights will be LAL in a very intimate electronic performance featuring songs from their 3rd studio album, Deportation, to be released on PTR in early 2008. Capping off the affair will be PTR co-head honcho Moonstarr dropping a live PA / DJ set, featuring his broken bossa techno and decomposed hip hop soul swing with special guest vocalists rounding out jagged edges. Pieces from his upcoming full-length Instrumentals Forever (spring 2008) will feature prominently.
All monies collected at the door will be donated towards LAL’s upcoming tour dates in India and Pakistan in late November 2007, where the full band will bring their incredible multimedia performance, based on their upcoming Deportation album, to festivals in both countries.
Keep an eye and ear out for the Next Stop PTR compilation, soon available in digital format on the www.ptrmusic.com site, chock full of brand new, dynamic futurist soul from PTR artists old and new, as well as some “damn, we need to hear these again!” gems.
We don’t sleep, especially when the music’s this ill.
PTR…Unpolluted beats since 1998.
