ABOUT YOUR HOSTS :
Jonathan Melville Pratt is a composer, singer, percussionist, and producer living in Brooklyn. Jonathan earned his bachelors degree in Classical Voice and “Interdisciplinary Composition” from The North Carolina School of the Arts in 2001.
Jonathan has been commissioned to compose and perform original music for John Dillon, Brian Mertes, Trish Casey, Sean Sullivan, Erin Beneze, Alana Stroud, Alban Elved Dance Company, Djamilla Moore, Chih-Chun Huang, Sarah Percival, Mimi Garrard Dance Company, Via Dance Collaborative, Daniel Charon, Jennifer Nugent, Jonah Bokaer, Amelia Uzategui, The Julliard School of Dance, Cindy Salgado, Jessica Harris, and The Julliard School of Drama. Recent credits include: Dancing at Lunasa, The Lower Depths, The Ramayana, The Cherry Orchard, Uncle Vanya, Tone Clusters, The Indian Wants the Bronx, Platonov, The Greeks: Part one- The War, The Brothers Size (New York Premier at The Public Theater), The Greeks: Part Two- The Murders, The Brothers Size (Irish premier at The Abbey Theatre), The Greeks: Part Three- The Gods, World Premier scores for Films by Mimi Garrard: “A Dream with Three Brides”, “Frontpage”, and “Dreaming Chekhovs Dream”, World premier score “Thirteen” for Larry Keigwin’s “Runaway”, World Premier score “Black Heart Pulling” for Emery LeCrone’s “Aporismos” at the Columbia University Ballet Collaborative, World Premier score for Nicole Wolcott’s “Verge”, World Premier Score and performance for Helen Simoneau’s “Adventures in a Foreign Land” at the Joyce Soho, and World Premier score “Transfixed” for Larry Keigwin’s Premier “Triptych” To be performed at the Joyce Theater in June. Chez Bushwick, an artist-run organization in Brooklyn, is responsible for a number of monthly public programs that encourage artistic freedom, collaboration, and creative risk-taking. The organization is a 2009-2010 recipient of a n award from the Rockefeller New York City Cultural Innovation Fund, focusing on arts-based economic development and urban revitalization.
