Editor From International Herald Tribune to Run AP News in the U.S.


PARIS — Michael Oreskes, the executive editor of The International Herald Tribune and a veteran journalist at The New York Times, said on Thursday that he was leaving the paper to take a newly created position as managing editor for United States news at The Associated Press. Mr. Oreskes, 53, who started his 27-year career at The Times as a metropolitan reporter and held a number of senior executive positions, has presided over efforts to strengthen ties between the I.H.T. and The Times, which publishes the I.H.T.
